Leonardo is said to have drawn the first known "Landscape" or an image where the actual environment is the focal point without any other reason. This image also happens to be his first known sketch - but it wasn't his last or his last landscape. Some of these may not be exactly "from life" and are mostly imaginary. I've also included images of natural phenomnea like cloud formations and images that aren't quite maps but are of the physical world. If "Maps" were like google earth - "Landscapes" are street-view.
